(8.2) Malfunction Criteria:
(8.2.1)
The OBD II system shall detect a malfunction of the EGR system prior to an increase or decrease from the manufacturer’s specified EGR flow rate that would cause a vehicle’s emissions to exceed 1.5 times any of the applicable FTP standards.
(8.2.2)
For vehicles in which no failure or deterioration of the EGR system could result in a vehicle’s emissions exceeding 1.5 times any of the applicable standards, the OBD II system shall detect a malfunction when the system has no detectable amount of EGR flow.
